ENGINE 25
A 1999 KME heavy duty custom cab and chassis is the best of both a pumper and rescue. The 22" raised roof, six-man cab offers ease of maneuverability and is primarily used for vehicle accidents, although it has full engine capability. Powered by a 500 hp Cummins N14 coupled to an Allison 5 speed automatic transmission, it also has a 1,500 gpm Hale Q-max pump, 750 gal. tank and VHF high band communications for the PA Turnpike system. Cost: $311,000.
A 2007 KME custom 6-man cab heavy pumper that is our frontline attack engine. Smaller than the rescue, it provides similar equipment but is easier to maneuver. Powered by 400 hp Cummins ISD coupled to an Allison 5 speed automatic transmission, it has a 1,500 gpm Hale Q-max pump and a 1,000 gal. tank. Cost: $277,000.

Our newest unit is a 2015 Ford F-550 4 x 4 built by KME. It is powered by a Triton V-10 with an automatic transmission and has a Honda/Waterous 100 gpm pump, 300 gal. tank and 10 gal. foam cell. This unit replaces our 1975 brush truck and also provides manpower transport to support the other apparatus. Cost: $155,000.

Note: all 110 volt electrical connections are standardized with 3-prong, 15 amp twist-lock plugs and receptacles on the three major units. The brush truck utilizes standard, 15 amp house-hold connections from the inverter and several  portable lights.

All units have 800 MHz. interoperable, county-wide digital two-way radios based on Motorola trunking technology.
